Do you know all the different places that can be designated a World Heritage site? A Roman amphitheatre, a National Park or an ancient city? Right now, 690 cultural and natural sites are protected worldwide. This means that no one can change them, dig them up or paint them over. There's probably a protected site not far from where you live since World Heritage sites are listed in almost every country on earth.
