Time
with the MBA class at International University at Niigata
Like every year Prof. Rajasekara invited me to the university to
give a lecture to the MBA class on Strategy Execution and
Balance Scorecard. I was as usual excited to meet the new group
of students and learn from them. It was raining heavily with the
typhoon that hit Yokohama and Tokyo area. Still reached the
Tokyo station from Yokohama right at time to
catch the shinkansen (bullet trian) to urasa.
The IUJ campus is situated in a
beautiful valley surrounded by magnificent Echigo-sanzan
mountains. The local area offers rich traditions of rural
community and outdoor opportunities throughout the year;
mountain climbing, hiking, skiing, hot springs and many more. It
was Mar 17, 1976, when the Foundation for the Establishment of
the International University of Japan was formed.
IUJ's multi-culture
orientation of students and the exceptional opportunity to mix
with and learn from each other was something that I alway
admired, well including the nature around the campus that was
all so pleasant. The. IUJ students bring home with them new
perspectives along with joyful memories of events they
participated in around the campus and local communities and I
have been fortunate to be part of it to teach.
Right at 2pm I was in the class. The students from the 2008
first year batch were right there waiting for me. Prof.
Rajasekara introduced me to the students. The class went for
about 2 plus hours with a break talking of Balance Scorecard and
all about strategy excution and my experience. The class was a
full mix from the world this year from students from India to
Bangaladesh to Myanmar to Japan to United States, France
and many more. Got some very thoughtful questions like every
year from the students that stimulated all to discuss about the
subject and the experience. Great batch of students and I wish
them all the very best. After the class the students
organization a informal session with me at the cafeteria. We
disucssed various topics about business and management and not
to forget Prof. Rajasekara, picked up questions about career
development and future for MBA graduates. It was just a great
experiance like every year. Thanks to the students and also
Prof. Rajasekara for the opportunity.
